Yesterday : Tony POND / Rob ARTHUR - Tour de Corse 1983

This Nissan 240RS was built by Nissan Team Europe (Blydenstein) in England and then sold to Ashok Patel as a customer car. The Kenyan painted the car in red and entered the 1986 Safari Rally where it retired. After that, this 240RS was used in the Kenyan National Championship for ten years during which it won one round overall. For the Slowly Sideways events, which are mostly held on tarmac, this car was put back to tarmac specification and painted in the livery of a Nissan works car. Today it looks just like one of the 240RSs entered on the Monte Carlo Rally or Tour de Corse in 1983.

This car is one of three Nissan 240RS that, in 2008, were brought from Kenya to Germany for participation in Slowly Sideways events. Unfortunately, the restoration process was not quite as easy as had been hoped because many of the spare parts needed are hard to come by. In contrast to many other rally cars, there are no road versions of the 240RS in Europe that can be used as donor cars for lamps, mouldings etc. Even world for the technical parts, there simply was nothing left in the world and all had to be remade.
