Yesterday : Eric FERREUX / Serge AUDEMARS - Rallye du Mont-Blanc 1988

In 1988, alongside the entry of the Super 5 Gt Turbo, Renault entrusted Auto-Meca with entering an R21 Turbo in the French Rally Championship. The saloon car of the diamond brand, even in the hands of Philippe BUGALSKI, was struggling against Alain OREILLE’s GT Turbo. He nevertheless finished 3 times in fifth place in the overall classification, but without ever winning a group victory.

Other drivers have been tempted by the R21 Turbo, including Pierre LARTIGUE and Eric FERREUX.

Eric FERREUX was Swiss Rally Champion in 1983 with a Porsche. His name was then associated for nearly a decade with Renault, with which he won three other national titles, first with an R5 Turbo (1984 and 1985), then an R11 Turbo (1987). In 1988, on a car identical to that of BUGALSKI, he finished 2nd in the general classification of the Rallye du Valais and won the group N. He will experience less success during his three participations in the French Championship and will pass the following year on a Super 5 Gt Turbo.

Frédéric GIROD is the owner of this rare car in rallies. After entrusting it to Eric FERREUX during the 2018 edition, he now takes the wheel himself.
