Yesterday : Henri GREDER / « Celigny » - Tour de Corse - 1976
Henri GREDER was born on November 30, 1930 in Nancy. He started in rallying as Roger De LAGENESTE's co-driver in 1960, then quickly moved into the left seat.
Even if we could see him at the wheel of Ford, preferably with large engines (Mustang, Galaxy, GT40), he mostly raced on General Motors cars, whether Corvette or Camaro (always this attraction for big blocks ...) or Opel (Commodore, Ascona, Kadett).
It was at the wheel of a Kadett GT / E group 1 that he took part of the Tour de Corse 1976. "Titi", as everyone calls him, was codrivded by "Celigny", his girlfriend.
That year the island event had only 9 special stages, but they nearly 630 kilometers long! It will be ruthless for the crews: out of the 87 entered, only 11 reach the finish in Bastia. Sandro MUNARI wins the event with his Stratos. GREDER wins group 1 and finishes in 9th place in the overall classification.
Joseph TOUSSAINT wanted to pay tribute to the Nancy driver who died in 2012, by reproducing the Opel Kadett entered in this event.
