Yesterday : Ove ANDERSSON / David STONE - Rallye Monte Carlo 1971

It was a first victory that was desired by Alpine during the Rallye Monte-Carlo 1971. For this, six factory A110s of 155hp and 1600cc are entered to face Porsche. However, the battle for victory turned out to be easier than expected as the German marque did not enter the winning 911s in the three previous years and came with the 914/6 uneasy on the snow. While Munari was losing time in his Lancia Fulvia, Alpine finished with a double with Ove Andersson ahead of Jean-Luc Thérier. This turned out to be a good omen for the remainder of the season in the manufacturer Rally Championship where the Dieppe team ultimately clinched the title.

In 1994, Michael Splettstösser bought this partially restored Alpine A110 in parts. Once the job is done, this A110 is presented as a replica of the factory cars from 1971. The only differences: the rear axle and gearbox which Michael Splettstösser replaced with those used on the last A110s and A310.

The German driver is a staunch supporter from the start and has never missed any edition. He is there again, always in the company of Hartmut Papenbaum.
