Yesterday : Roger CLARK / Stuart PEGG - RAC Rally 1977
Roger CLARK is the first British driver to win a World Rally Championship event. It was in 1976 during his national event, the RAC Rally. If this victory is the only one at the highest level, his name will have shone in the firmament of English rallies, with four national titles.
This car was bought new in 1977, by Roger Beco, a Belgian amateur driver. For 4 seasons she was engaged in hill climbs until her owner lost the car from the trailer. The car was badly damaged but was repaired years later to allow Roger's son to make his rally debut. Frédéric Beco then used it for a few seasons in rallying, notably as co-driver Nicolas Gilsoul, who was making his debut before joining Bruno Thiry a little later.
Bernard HERMANN bought this car about twenty years ago and then sold it a year later. And she stood there for a long time in a garage. A little by chance, he became the owner again and restored it completely with a Group 4 look.
