After a 1972 season hampered by reliability problems linked to the fact that too many elements still came from the small Renault 8, Alpine attacked in the 1973 season with great ambitions. They are the cars to beat that year! They purely and simply won the six events of the world championship, thus officially becoming the first World Rally Champions. However, this commitment was too important financially for this small independent company and Renault therefore took over the destiny of the brand. For the future, the latter had different marketing plans from those aimed at promoting the A110. Thus in 1974 and beyond the A110 was only used from time to time… Its last appearance was during the 1975 Sanremo Rally.
Laurent BOGAIN pays tribute to this first international title with his very beautiful A110 group 4.
