Yesterday : Bertrand BALAS / Eric LAINE - Tour de Corse 1985

If in 1985, attention was mainly turned to groups B, violent and disproportionate, the public did not shun groups A. Among these, a coupe with a melodious sound was particularly popular with the public: the Alfa Romeo GTV6. Its elegance, the divine music of its V6 and the aggressiveness of its pilots have marked the spirits. We remember the spectacular passages of Yves Loubet, Christian Rigollet or Bertrand Balas. The latter has done a lot for the reputation of the coupe by winning four group victories in its first season. He also took his Italian on the roads of the World Championship in the Tour de Corse, finishing 6th in 1985.

Alexandre Denis attended as a spectator all editions of the Alsace Rallye Festival and after having had the opportunity to talk to Bertrand Balas, the idea of participating one day with an Alfa Romeo GTV6 quickly germinated. As a student at Estaca, president of the student association RACE SQY, he gave a new twist to the project. From a sport project, he was to become a central educational project for the association. Almost all of the work was thus carried out by the association: stripping, treatment, painting, safety equipment, repair and optimization of braking and running gear, repair and engine preparation, nothing was left to chance. Particular care has been taken with the period equipment which has been found to make it a perfect replica of Balas's car at the Tour de Corse.
