Yesterday : Raffaele PINTO / Arnaldo BERNACCHINI - Rallye Sanremo 1976
Scuderia Lancia entered three Group 4 Stratos HF in Sanremo 1976. For this event requiring good engine flexibility, the 2400 cc 24-valve V6, mounted in the rear central position, was very slightly 'deflated', developing 265 horsepower in this version5 Alongside the three official cars driven by Sandro Munari, Björn Waldegård and Raffaele Pinto, three private Stratos are entered (12-valve versions, 240 horsepower4), including those of Antonio Fassina (registered under the diminutive of 'Tony') and Carlo Bianchi who are vying for the title of Italian champion.
Waldegard and Munari quickly grab the lead. Behind, after the rout of the Opel, Pinto and Verini (Fiat 131) are fighting for third place. After Verini's exit, Pinto secured the hat-trick for Lancia, however more than 9'30 behind Munari.
Jean-Paul Doucet pays tribute to this third place by presenting a replica of Raffaele PINTO's car.
