Yesterday : Bruno SABY / Françoise SAPPEY - Rallye Monte Carlo 1982

Victorious in 1981, the Renault Sport team was not officially entered in the 1982 edition. The Régie is nevertheless present through private drivers, among whom is Bruno SABY, the reigning French Champion.

The driver from Grenoble is at the start with a Cevennes version. With its 200 horsepower, it was then the most powerful customer competition version, but we are far from the 292 horsepower of the car with which Jean RAGNOTTI won the event the previous year.

The particularly lenient conditions of the Monegasque event allowed the traditional 2-wheel drive to succeed. Already the winner in 1980, Walter RÖHRL won ahead of Hannu MIKKOLA's Audi Quattro. Bruno SABY and codriver Françoise SAPPEY finished 5th.

It is this version, in the yellow and black livery of a sportswear brand, that Achim WELTEKE has reproduced. This great lover of France is a staunch supporter of the Alsace Rallye Festival.
