Yesterday : Miki BIASION / Tiziano SIVIERO - Rallye Sanremo 1980

When Miki Biasion was young, he started in this sport on a shoestring. He took part in the 1980 Sanremo Rally with a private Opel Ascona B prepared by Conrero. Biasion struggled with the stronger opposition coming from Fiat, Ford, Talbot and even Ascona 400 before he bowed out because of problems with his differential gear.

This Opel Ascona is owned by Roel Henckens and Bea Kesters. After participating in Rallycross for fifteen years, it was time for a new challenge and as Roel is working in an Opel garage, the decision was quickly made to build an Opel Ascona B. He wanted to build an Ascona that was driven by a well-known rally driver on a WRC event and with a livery rarely seen. Thus the choice fell to Miki Biasion’s 1980 car. Henckens and Kesters purchased this Opel in 2013 and after two years of restoration it was ready to rally.
